The founder of Omega Power Ministries, Chibuzor Chinyere, has put a stop to the planned marriage of his 21-year-old adopted autistic daughter, Chiemeka Chibuzor, after being flooded with more than a thousand applications from interested suitors across the country.
The Port Harcourt-based cleric broke the news via Facebook, announcing that the sheer volume of responses had forced him to suspend the process until further notice.
“Chiemeka Chibuzor’s wedding is hereby suspended,” he wrote. “More than a thousand applications. No more weddings, pending further directive from me.”
The announcement came just days after Chinyere had publicly called for suitors, offering a remarkable package of incentives to any man willing to marry his daughter. Prospective applicants were promised lifetime financial support, free housing, a jointly owned property registered in both spouses’ names, and routine welfare checks carried out by Omega Power Ministries staff.
The pastor had also set clear conditions for eligibility, specifying that interested men must be young and in sound physical and mental health.
The development follows a similar effort by the cleric in late March, when he facilitated the marriage of a non-verbal autistic man, identified as Aboy, to an older woman. That ceremony, held on March 29, drew widespread public attention and sparked conversations around care and inclusion for people living with autism in Nigeria.
The latest suspension leaves the fate of Chiemeka’s wedding uncertain, with many now awaiting the pastor’s next directive.
