A grieving mother of a member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Abdulsamad Jamiu, has called for justice after her son was killed during a crossfire between security operatives and suspected armed robbers in Abuja.
In an emotional video shared on X by Abuja PR, the distraught woman was seen in tears as she mourned her son and demanded accountability over the tragic incident.
“Here we are today, Nigeria has happened to me. I need justice, please. They killed him. They came for him,” she cried.
Cityspy news earlier reported that the incident occurred in the early hours of April 25, 2026, at Shagari Estate in the Dei-Dei area of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja. The area was thrown into panic after suspected armed robbers invaded the estate, prompting a swift response from troops of the Guards Brigade.
Following the incident, the Headquarters of the Guards Brigade described the death as unfortunate and deeply painful.
In a statement issued by its spokesperson, Lieutenant Olawuyi Odunola, the Brigade expressed condolences to the bereaved family and others affected, noting that it shared in their grief.
“We share in their grief and stand in solidarity with them during this moment of profound sorrow,” the statement said.
The military confirmed that an investigation has been launched to determine the circumstances that led to the civilian casualty. It also disclosed that the remains of the deceased have been deposited at Kubwa General Hospital.
Reaffirming its commitment to the protection of lives and property within the Federal Capital Territory, the Guards Brigade said it would review its operational procedures to prevent similar incidents in the future.
It further urged residents to remain calm and cooperate with security agencies as investigations continue.
