The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) launched a precision air strike against suspected terrorist positions in Guduf, nestled within the Mandara Mountains along Nigeria’s northeastern border, military authorities confirmed.
The strike, carried out on April 27, 2026, formed part of ongoing counter-terrorism efforts under Operation Hadin Kai. According to Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, Director of Public Relations and Information, the mission was intelligence-driven, backed by surveillance data that pinpointed multiple insurgent structures and logistics hubs actively sustaining militant operations in the area.
Ejodame stated that air assets were strategically deployed to dismantle key insurgent infrastructure, with the operation successfully destroying critical facilities that had been bolstering the terrorists’ operational capacity.
“NAF air assets executed a coordinated operation that identified multiple terrorist structures and logistics hubs actively supporting insurgent activities within the area,” he said.
The Air Force stressed that the mission was conducted strictly within the rules of engagement, with deliberate measures taken to avoid civilian casualties and environmental harm. The Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai applied precision targeting to neutralise hostile elements while keeping collateral damage to a minimum.
The Mandara Mountains, straddling Adamawa and Borno states and stretching into Cameroon, have long served as a refuge for insurgent groups operating in Nigeria’s northeast.
The NAF reaffirmed its commitment to denying terrorists freedom of movement across the region, vowing to sustain offensive operations aimed at degrading insurgent capabilities and reinforcing national security.
