The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has recorded another major breakthrough in its ongoing crackdown on organized crime, thanks to the giant strides of the Commandant General, Dr. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, whose strategic reforms have empowered the elite Commandant General’s Special Intelligence Squad (CG’SIS) to dismantle a notorious interstate car-snatching syndicate.
The syndicate had been terrorizing motorists across the Federal Capital Territory, Nasarawa, Kaduna, Benue, Kogi, and Plateau States before acting on credible intelligence, the CG’SIS arrested six suspects identified as Hassan Bukar, Adam Musa also known as Yellow, Ibrahim Haruna also known as Biggie, Adamu Mohammed, Sahal Abdullahi Aliyu, and Abubakar Yusuf, while other accomplices remain at large.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the syndicate specialized in stealing vehicles, dismantling them through complicit scrap dealers, and selling the parts to conceal evidence, with proceeds allegedly laundered through cash and Point of Sale transactions.
The CG’SIS Commander, Commandant A.S. Dandaura, confirmed the sealing of five shops at the Zuba Scrap Market used for dismantling stolen vehicles, alongside the recovery of exhibits including a Toyota Camry and multiple vehicle documents and number plates.
Further investigations linked the suspects to a wider criminal network involving coordinated supply, resale, and concealment of stolen vehicles across multiple states.
The NSCDC confirmed that charges bordering on criminal conspiracy, theft, receiving stolen property, and aiding concealment have been established under relevant provisions of the Penal Code, with several suspects confessing to long-running involvement in the illegal trade while others remain under investigation.
Under the transformative leadership of CG Audi, the NSCDC has consistently demonstrated a commitment to intelligence-led policing, and this operation is yet another testament to his vision of repositioning the Corps to tackle organized crime and protect critical national assets.
In a separate operation at the BUA International Cement Factory in Okpella, Edo State, NSCDC operatives arrested two employees, Goodday Okhagbe and Monday Previous, for the theft of industrial hydraulic fluid, while two other suspects, Mainasara Samuel Markus and Sanni Abba, were apprehended for vandalism and theft of armored cables belonging to the facility, with confessional statements obtained from all four suspects.
The Corps reaffirmed its commitment to dismantling criminal networks, protecting critical national infrastructure and ensuring that all suspects are prosecuted to serve as a deterrent to others, while advising members of the public to verify vehicle ownership documents before any purchase and report suspicious transactions to security agencies.
