Lagos lawmaker and Nollywood actor Desmond Elliot has raised a serious alarm over the conduct of the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election in his constituency, alleging that his supporters were systematically intimidated and barred from accessing the polling venue.
Elliot, who arrived at the Paddington Mini Stadium with his entourage, claimed that a significant number of his loyalists were refused entry into the polling area despite repeated appeals to electoral officers on ground. According to him, his pleas fell on deaf ears as officials turned away his people without justification.
In a show of solidarity, the affected supporters staged a peaceful demonstration outside the venue before gradually dispersing alongside their principal. Elliot explained that his decision to leave was deliberate — driven by a desire to prevent the situation from escalating into violence.
“I will not allow any life to be lost because of an election,” he stated, emphasising that no political ambition was worth bloodshed.
The primary was ultimately not conducted, as mounting tensions over the alleged exclusion of party members made it impossible to proceed.
Elliot has since called on the APC leadership to investigate the incident and guarantee a process that is transparent, inclusive, and free from manipulation — warning that the integrity of internal party democracy was at stake.
