President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has assured Nigerians that the country is gradually overcoming its economic difficulties, declaring that the “dark days are over” as ongoing reforms begin to produce positive results.
In his Eid-el-Kabir message to Muslims in Nigeria and across the world, the President said the sacrifices Nigerians have endured in the past three years were beginning to stabilise the economy and attract investors into the country.
Tinubu noted that the economic reforms introduced by his administration were aimed at securing long-term growth, job creation and improved opportunities for citizens.
According to him, the nation has now moved beyond the difficult phase of the reform process.
“Just as sacrifice brings reward, I am happy that the sacrifices and efforts we have made over the past three years have yielded a more stable economy, making our country a preferred investment destination that will drive job creation and economic growth. The walk through the dark tunnel is over, and the light is here,” Tinubu said.
The President also expressed confidence that the reforms would continue to improve security and expand opportunities for Nigerians.
Speaking on insecurity, Tinubu admitted that terrorists and bandits were still attacking communities despite recent successes recorded by security agencies.
He referenced the recent joint Nigeria-United States operation that eliminated ISIS commander Abu-Bilal al-Manuki in the Lake Chad Basin, but assured Nigerians that the fight against insecurity would continue until peace is restored.
“I assure you: you are neither abandoned nor forgotten. We will ultimately defeat all the forces of evil,” he added.
Tinubu further urged religious leaders and citizens to pray for peace, unity and progress in the country, while encouraging acts of charity and support for the less privileged during the Sallah celebration.
Meanwhile, Senate President Godswill Akpabio called on Nigerians to embrace sacrifice, unity and national renewal as Muslims celebrate Eid-el-Kabir.
In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Eseme Eyiboh, Akpabio described the season as a reminder of Prophet Ibrahim’s faith, obedience and willingness to sacrifice for Allah.
“These timeless virtues of devotion, selflessness, and submission to divine will are values our nation desperately needs today,” he stated.
Akpabio urged Nigerians to pray for peace, security and prosperity, while also remembering security personnel and farmers facing challenges across the country.
Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin also appealed for sustained prayers, unity and support for vulnerable Nigerians during the Sallah celebration.
In a message signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ismail Mudashir, Barau urged Muslims and all Nigerians to uphold the values of sacrifice, tolerance, justice and charity.
Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, similarly encouraged Nigerians to extend love and support to the poor and needy, noting that charity remains one of the core teachings of Islam.
Abbas, through his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Musa Abdullahi Krishi, said Eid-el-Kabir symbolises total obedience and submission to the will of Allah as demonstrated by Prophet Ibrahim.
He urged Nigerians to remain selfless and committed to serving humanity.
Also speaking on the occasion, Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo and Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori called for peace, unity and peaceful coexistence among Nigerians.
The governors urged citizens to continue promoting love, sacrifice and tolerance, stressing that the lessons of Eid-el-Kabir should inspire unity and national development.
Similarly, National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, described Eid-el-Kabir as a sacred celebration of faith, sacrifice and devotion.
He called on Nigerians to support President Tinubu’s reforms, saying patience, perseverance and collective responsibility were necessary for building a stronger and more prosperous nation.
Yilwatda also urged citizens to promote peaceful coexistence, unity and harmony across religious and ethnic lines.
