Former Plateau State Governor and elder statesman, Senator Jonah David Jang, has praised the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for conducting what he described as transparent, credible, and democratic primary elections, contrasting the process with what he called the practice of producing election outcomes in “hotel rooms” by some rival political parties.
In a statement released on Friday through his Media Consultant, Comrade Clinton Garuba, Jang congratulated the PDP on the successful completion of its primary elections across the country. He particularly commended the process in Plateau State, where Hon. Sunday Garba Biggs emerged as the party’s governorship candidate for the 2027 general elections.
According to Jang, the orderly conduct of the primaries demonstrated the PDP’s commitment to internal democracy, effective organisation, and party unity.
He noted that the planning and execution of the PDP exercise stood in sharp contrast to the methods adopted by some other political parties.
“The difference in approach, planning, and execution between the PDP primaries and those conducted by other political parties was clear for everyone to see,” Jang stated.
The former governor alleged that while the PDP allowed party members to freely determine the outcome of the elections through a transparent process, some parties relied on imposition and manipulation, with results allegedly predetermined regardless of what transpired at polling venues.
He said the successful conduct of the primaries reaffirmed the PDP’s dedication to democratic principles and respect for the mandate of its members.
Jang also cautioned individuals claiming to be factional members of the PDP in Plateau State against actions capable of creating division within the party. He maintained that the PDP in the state remains united and fully aligned under the leadership of Chief Raymond Dabo.
The elder statesman urged party members to remain focused and work together to strengthen the PDP ahead of the 2027 elections.
