Massive political activity swept through parts of Lagos on Saturday as the Accord Party held a large rally and press conference that drew thousands of supporters, causing heavy disruption to traffic and commercial movement in several areas of the city.
The event, attended by party members, youth groups, and supporters from across the state, ended with a strong reaffirmation of Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim as the party’s flag bearer for the 2027 general elections.
During the gathering, the party also issued certificates of return to its Lagos State candidates while addressing ongoing internal debates and speculation around its presidential ticket. Leaders insisted that the party remained united and focused on its electoral strategy.
Speaking at the event, representatives from various local government areas described Hashim as a candidate capable of addressing Nigeria’s economic hardship, security challenges, and governance concerns through practical reforms and leadership experience. One speaker from Alimosho reaffirmed that the party was committed to building a national movement driven by competence and renewal.
Supporters filled the venue with chants, banners, and campaign messages, portraying Hashim as a unifying figure with a national outlook and the capacity to bridge political and regional divides.
The rally followed his emergence as the party’s presidential candidate at the primaries and comes after a series of endorsements and solidarity events in different parts of the country.
With strong turnout in Lagos and similar gatherings reported elsewhere, supporters say momentum is building into a broader national movement ahead of 2027 focused on economic recovery and political reform.
The event ended after hours of speeches and political engagement, with supporters reaffirming their commitment to the party’s presidential choice as preparations continue for the general elections.
