Troops of the 34 Artillery Brigade, Nigerian Army, under the Joint Task Force South East’s Operation UDO KA, have arrested a suspected armourer and logistics courier tied to attacks on oil facilities and security operatives in Imo State.
Naija News reports that the operation, carried out in the early hours of July 1, 2026, followed credible intelligence and targeted a search-and-raid mission along the Akpe Aggah-Egbema Forest axis. The suspect was apprehended at Obiakpu Forest.
In a statement issued via its official X handle on Thursday, the Army said preliminary investigations showed the suspect served as chief armourer and logistics coordinator for a criminal group blamed for attacks on oil installations and troops in the Ohaji-Egbema area.
Weapons recovered during the raid include one AK-47 rifle, one M4A1 carbine, one M16A2 rifle, six magazines, five pump-action guns, a locally made pistol, and a large quantity of assorted ammunition.
The Army described the haul as a major blow to the group’s operational capacity, disrupting its logistics chain.
The suspect remains in custody and will face further investigation to support follow-up operations targeting other members of the network. The Army said intelligence gathered from him is expected to aid in tracking down collaborators.
The military reaffirmed its resolve to keep up offensive operations against criminal elements threatening national security and economic assets in the South-East, urging residents to keep providing timely and credible intelligence through official security channels.
