Nollywood actress Toyin Abraham has opened up on how her husband, Kolawole Ajeyemi, pushed her to stop smoking cigarettes, calling him one of the best things that has happened to her.
Speaking on The Morayo Show, Abraham said Ajeyemi first raised concerns about her smoking when she got pregnant, insisting it would not be allowed around their child.
“Kolawole Ajeyemi is one of the best things that has ever happened to me. He lets me be me. I used to smoke cigarettes. I still smoke vape once in a while. But I stopped smoking cigarettes,” she said.
She explained that after their son was born, her husband once caught her smoking during an outing but chose to address it later rather than in the moment.
According to her, he made his position clear: he wasn’t against her smoking outright, but he would not tolerate her doing it around their child, warning that it could cost them their marriage.
The actress said the warning stuck with her and pushed her to quit cigarettes for good, though she still vapes occasionally.
Abraham also addressed claims that her husband is uneasy with her acting career, particularly romantic scenes in movies. She described him as mature and said his stance has nothing to do with insecurity, adding that she now has enough clout to avoid kissing scenes altogether, unlike in her earlier years in the industry. She stressed that while she is open to playing most roles, promiscuity is where she draws the line.
