A forged letter purportedly from the State House was used to secure official government recognition for the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), the Accountant-General of the Federation, Shamseldeen Ogunjimi, has revealed.
The disclosure was among the top stories reviewed on Vanguard’s newspaper review programme, Today in the News.
The PFIPC scandal continued to dominate headlines across the dailies. The Nation reported that a House of Representatives panel investigating the council uncovered 29 documents allegedly forged by the agency. The Punch reported that the House is under pressure to summon the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, over the ongoing probe.
In other developments, President Bola Tinubu snubbed an envoy sent by South African President Cyril Ramaphosa to discuss xenophobic attacks on Nigerians, Vanguard reported.
The Minister of Defence, Gen. Christopher Musa (retd), said Tinubu would soon announce a pay rise for soldiers.
The Guardian reported that doubts over the credibility of the forthcoming Osun governorship election have deepened, amid worsening violence and cases of stolen permanent voter cards (PVCs).
