President Bola Tinubu on Friday received the outgoing Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Didi Esther Walson-Jack, and her successor, Abel Olumuyiwa Enitan, at the State House, Abuja.
The visit follows Tinubu’s appointment of Enitan days earlier as the new Head of the Civil Service, with the appointment taking effect on August 27, 2026.
The appointment was announced in a statement signed by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, and dated August 19, 2026.
Enitan takes over from Walson-Jack, who is exiting office after clocking the mandatory retirement age of 60.
A native of Osun State, Enitan currently serves as Permanent Secretary in the Federal Ministry of Education and holds the record as the longest-serving Permanent Secretary in the Federal Civil Service, with seven years and seven months in the role.
He has held key postings across government, including the Ministry of Police Affairs, the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, and the Office of the Vice President.
His extensive cross-agency experience is expected to serve him well as he takes charge of the Federal Civil Service’s affairs.
