Nollywood actress Tope Osoba has been laid to rest in Ogun State following a funeral service held on Thursday.
Her remains were conveyed from Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital, Sagamu, to Akesan Club, Iperu Remo, where family, friends and colleagues gathered to pay their last respects before her interment at the Iperu Remo Cemetery. Mourners were dressed predominantly in white for the ceremony.
Nollywood stars in attendance included Foluke Daramola, Kunle Afod, Joke Jigan and Basira Badia.
Osoba’s death was announced on August 5, 2026, nearly two years after she underwent breast cancer surgery in November 2024. Her family had initially scheduled her burial for August 13, following a candlelight procession and an artiste tribute night on August 11, but later postponed it to complete outstanding arrangements.
Her death sparked online claims suggesting it was linked to emotional distress rather than cancer, alongside allegations that her fiancé, Itunu Onadeko, and his family mistreated her during her illness. The Celestial Church of Christ, where Onadeko serves as a shepherd, has announced an internal investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death.
Osoba started out as a dancer before moving into acting in the early 2000s, going on to feature in Nollywood titles including Gucci Girls (2012), Accident (2013) and Ifedolapo (2015).
