President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has returned to Nigeria after spending about four weeks in Europe on what the Presidency described as a working vacation.
Tinubu arrived in Lagos on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, with the presidential aircraft landing at the Presidential Wing of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport at about 6:22 p.m.
The President had departed Abuja on August 30 for London, where he spent about a week before travelling to Paris, France.
Although the Presidency had initially announced that Tinubu would spend three weeks on the working vacation, his stay in Europe was later extended by a few days.
While in France, Tinubu held a private dinner meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron.
He also met with business leaders, including Vincent Bolloré of the Bolloré Group, as part of engagements the Presidency said were aimed at strengthening economic and business relations.
Tinubu is expected to remain in Lagos for activities marking Nigeria’s 66th Independence Anniversary on October 1.
The Presidency had earlier said the President would attend to official engagements in Lagos before returning to Abuja.
His return to the country comes after weeks of public discussion over his extended stay in Europe and the nature of his working vacation.
The Presidency has maintained that Tinubu’s trip was a working vacation during which he combined personal time with official and business-related engagements.
