Sharon Ademefun, the sister of Nigerian music star Davido, has said she no longer sees the point in spending heavily on clothes.
Ademefun, who was born Sharon Adeleke, spoke on The Fashion Round Table podcast. She said some items are worth the money, but many are hard to justify.
She pointed to the price of wedding guest dresses as an example. According to her, such outfits now cost as much as $10,000, and they all look the same.
“I don’t really believe in buying expensive clothes, me personally. I believe that there are some things that are worth it,” she said.
Ademefun also spoke about the cost of her own wedding. She said her husband paid $2,000 for her wedding dress, while she paid for the dresses of her 13 bridesmaids and four or five hostesses.
“Altogether, I spent less than $10,000 on everything,” she said.
She added that she is no longer willing to pay for certain things. Ademefun, who turns 40 next year, said she has made an “executive decision” not to work directly with any Nigerian designer.
