Eight suspended members of the Zamfara State House of Assembly have received vehicles from the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, to boost their political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The minister, a former governor of Zamfara, reportedly ordered the immediate release of the vehicles so the lawmakers could move around their constituencies and mobilise support.
The gesture comes after President Bola Tinubu reportedly directed the lawmakers to return to Zamfara and work towards uniting the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state. It is also seen as part of efforts to resolve disagreements and bring aggrieved party stakeholders together after months of political tension.
The Managing Director of the Nigeria Agricultural Insurance Corporation, Yazid Danfulani, presented the vehicles on Matawalle’s behalf. He described the donation as part of the minister’s drive to build unity and understanding within the party.
According to him, the gesture reflects Matawalle’s determination to rally party members and reposition the APC for victory in the coming elections.
Speaking on behalf of the lawmakers, Aliyu Ango Kagara thanked the minister for the support and pledged that he and his colleagues would work hard to deliver victory for Tinubu in 2027.
The development comes days after the lawmakers’ spokesman, Ibrahim Bakura, insisted that they had not returned to the APC following their meeting with the President at the Presidential Villa.
