Nollywood actor Femi Branch has been awarded his second honorary doctorate, this time by ESTAM University in Benin Republic.
The actor announced the honour on Instagram on Friday, revealing that he was conferred with a Doctor of Humane Letters, D.H.L. (hons).
“And God added another feather to my cap today as I was bestowed my second honorary Doctorate Degree by @estam_university. I am now a Doctor of Humane Letters D.H.L. (hons),” he wrote.
He thanked God and his parents, Otunba and Yeye Osunkoya, and expressed gratitude to the governing board of the university for the recognition. He also thanked his brother, @yomi_olorunlaiye, for capturing the moment.
The latest honour comes two years after he received an honorary Doctor of Philosophy in Arts from Heim Weldios University in Porto Novo, Benin Republic, in November 2024.
Femi is an actor, filmmaker, playwright and poet with a long career in Nigeria’s entertainment industry.
ESTAM University, based in Cotonou, Benin Republic, has also conferred honorary degrees on Nigerian entertainers such as actors Lateef Adedimeji and Destalker.
In February 2026, the National Universities Commission issued guidelines clarifying that honorary doctorates are distinctions and not equivalent to earned academic doctorate qualifications.
