Access Bank Plc has announced the appointment of Oluseyi Kumapayi as Deputy Managing Director, African Subsidiaries, and Olanrewaju Bamisebi as Executive Director, Information Technology and Digitalisation.
The appointments, which have received the approval of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), will take effect from October 27 and October 28, 2026, respectively.
Access Holdings Plc, the parent company of Access Bank, disclosed the development in a notice to the Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX) and the investing public on Saturday, October 31, 2026.
Kumapayi was elevated from his previous position as Executive Director, African Subsidiaries, while Bamisebi joins the board of Access Bank from Access Holdings, where he previously served as Executive Director, Information Technology and Digitalisation.
According to the company, the appointments are part of efforts to strengthen its leadership structure and advance its strategic priorities, particularly in profitability, operational efficiency, capital management and sustainable returns to shareholders.
Access Holdings explained that having established a strong banking presence across Africa and selected international markets, its focus is now shifting towards maximising the value of its existing operations and improving the performance of its subsidiaries.
The company noted that Kumapayi’s elevation would strengthen the management of its African subsidiaries, with greater attention on improving earnings, increasing returns on capital and enhancing operational efficiency.
It also explained that the decision to transfer executive responsibility for Information Technology and Digitalisation from the holding company to Access Bank was aimed at bringing technology leadership closer to the bank’s daily operations and business objectives.
The move is expected to accelerate digital transformation, improve customer experience, strengthen cybersecurity, simplify technology platforms and reduce operational costs across the banking group.
In his new role, Bamisebi will oversee the bank’s technology and digitalisation strategy, focusing on improving operational efficiency, modernising technology infrastructure and deploying digital solutions to support business growth and customer satisfaction.
Kumapayi is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria. He holds an Executive MBA from IMD, Lausanne, and an Executive Master’s degree in Digital Transformation and Innovation Leadership from IE University, Madrid.
He also obtained degrees from the University of Lagos and the University of Ibadan and participated in the General Management Programme at Harvard Business School.
Bamisebi holds a bachelor’s degree in Computing and Information Technology from the University of Derby and an MBA from Durham Business School. He also has qualifications in Computer Science and Accounting and is an alumnus of the Cambridge Judge Business School Senior Management Programme.
He has further undertaken executive education at leading international institutions and obtained professional certifications in technology governance, enterprise architecture and information security.
Commenting on the appointments, the Group Chairman of Access Holdings Plc, Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede, said the company was focused on translating its extensive banking presence across Africa and beyond into improved financial performance, greater efficiency and stronger returns for shareholders.
He explained that Kumapayi’s elevation demonstrated the group’s commitment to improving the performance of its African subsidiaries, while Bamisebi’s appointment would strengthen the integration of technology leadership into the bank’s operations and commercial activities.
Aig-Imoukhuede added that clearer accountability, effective execution and strategic investment in technology would play important roles in the group’s next phase of growth.
Also speaking, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Access Bank Plc, Roosevelt Ogbonna, said the bank was working towards becoming a more productive, efficient and profitable financial institution.
Ogbonna explained that the bank would prioritise improved returns from its African subsidiaries, stronger operational performance and better utilisation of its capital and existing market presence.
He added that the bank’s technology strategy would focus on simplifying digital platforms, improving reliability, accelerating innovation and delivering better services to customers at reduced costs.
According to him, bringing executive responsibility for technology directly into the bank’s management structure would improve the relationship between technology investments and overall business performance.
The Access Holdings Board congratulated both executives on their new appointments and expressed confidence in their ability to contribute to the group’s strategic objectives and continued growth.
