President Bola Tinubu will on Friday begin a two-state visit to Akwa Ibom and Rivers, commissioning projects in Uyo before attending an All Progressives Congress (APC) rally in Rivers State on Saturday.
The trip comes as the President steps up political mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general election.
In a statement on Thursday, his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, said Tinubu would depart Abuja on November 6 and first head to Uyo, the Akwa Ibom capital.
“The President will first visit Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital, to commission landmark projects completed by Governor Umo Eno’s administration and attend a political rally,” the statement read in part.
Among the projects to be inaugurated are the new International Terminal Building, the International Airport Hospital and the Ibom Aviation Village, all at Victor Attah International Airport.
He will also commission the Airport-Okopedi Road, which links communities in Nsit Atai and Okobo Local Government Areas, and Ring Road 3, which connects Idoro Road to Ikot Ekpene Road through Uyo and Ibiono Ibom.
Other projects on the list are the AKWA-GIS Office Complex, the Command and Control Centre and the ARISE Palm Resort.
To mark the visit, Governor Eno has declared Friday a work-free day across the state.
“Governor Eno, the host, has declared Friday a work-free day in the state to give the President a rousing reception,” the statement said.
Tinubu will leave Uyo for Port Harcourt on Saturday to attend the APC rally. It will be the third political gathering he has attended since he flagged off his re-election campaign in Kaduna last month.
The Presidency said the visits would also allow the President to meet political stakeholders, party members and supporters.
“The visits will also give President Tinubu opportunities to engage with political stakeholders, party members, and supporters while emphasising unity, political stability, and a shared commitment to national progress,” the statement added.
