Governor Rochas Owelle Okorocha by all standard is one of the most influential Governor in Nigeria today. Most especially the eastern region of Nigeria. His cordial relationship with the presidency and as the Chairman of the All Progressive Congress Governors forum; further seals his top spot as a force to reckon with in the Nigeria political firmament.
Governor Rochas is a man who loves controversies a lot. He loves it like a monkey loves banana. Apart from the fact that he is a philanthropist, who loves humanity, he is also a man who loathes the sight of his fellow human in distress, he is ever ready to render a swift assistance. A few weeks ago, his Rochas Okorocha foundation celebrated its 20th anniversary of assisting humanity giving free and quality education to bright and intelligent students across Africa.
Like the archetypal norm of most ex-Governors, after their tenure, they seek a re-election into the Senate to further retain their spot politically and continual relevancy. Rochas Okorocha threw caution into the air a few weeks ago when he revealed his son-in-law as his possible successor when he leaves office. After the declaration, many Imo state indigene kicked against the plot, alleging Okorocha of wanting to install his in-law as Governor to cover his tracks from possible probing and uncovering of shady deals carried out by him while he was in office.
In the heat of the controversial declaration; Okorocha also revealed his intention to run for a senatorial seat in 2019, representing Imo West senatorial district at the upper national assembly. At an event on Monday the 26th of February in Owerri, Okorocha in his words said; “I have decided to run for the Imo West Senatorial zone because if I don’t, bad people will take the position. If my name appears on the ballot paper as contesting for the Senate, it will boost APC’s chances in the state. And many from my zone have said they will not contest if I am interested.” he said
