Via an official memo from the presidency, duly signed by President Muhammadu Buhari, the Minister for Agriculture and Rural Development Kano state born Mohammed Sabo Nanono and Minister of State for Power Taraba state born Saleh Mamman has been relieved of their appointment with immediate effect.
According to sources; their sack is connected to not meeting up with the stipulated target in their various ministry as set by President Buhari. It would be recalled that; the two ministries are ministries President Buhari based his campaign on in 2015 and 2019. The cause of the rising surge in food prices in the country and the constant drop in power supply, among many more other issues led to their sack.
An appointment to replace them is done already as Dr. Mohammad Mahmood Abubakar, Minister of Environment, was redeployed to assume office as the Minister of Agriculture & Rural Development, while Engr. Abubakar D. Aliyu, Minister of State, Works & Housing will now be the Minister of Power. President Buhari has said; there would be no room for failure as he wants to leave office by completing all projects he started. “The president will not hesitate to fire any minister who is not discharging his or her duty in line with the President’s vision,” A source said.
