There are men whose presence fills a room, and there are men whose principles fill an institution. Femi Jarret belonged to the latter.
Long before many came to understand the value of structure and continuity within our fold, Femi had already committed himself to building both. As one of the founding members of the Cosmos Virtual Island, he helped transform an idea into a stable platform, one rooted in fellowship, discipline, and responsible stewardship of legacy. His involvement was never ceremonial. It was deliberate. It was invested. It was sustained.
History records his role among those who organised the first Pyrates Converge in 1972, a defining moment that reinforced unity and gave philosophical direction to the organisation. That early responsibility revealed much about his temperament: organised, forward-thinking, and deeply committed to collective purpose. He understood that gatherings are not social events alone; they are instruments for strengthening ideals.
Within the Island, Femi was a steadying influence. He did not lead through noise or spectacle. He led through example. His counsel was measured, his interventions thoughtful, his loyalty unquestioned. When issues arose, he sought clarity rather than conflict. When decisions were required, he leaned toward principle rather than convenience.
His belief in humanistic values was not performative. He stood for fairness, intellectual integrity, and the dignity of every individual. He respected hierarchy but never surrendered his conscience. He valued camaraderie but never compromised discipline. That balance earned him enduring respect across generations.
Beyond our circle, he distinguished himself in the creative and broadcasting landscape. From radio to stage and screen, he brought professionalism and depth to his craft. He was part of the generation that laid foundations upon which contemporary Nigerian performance culture now stands. His artistic life reflected the same seriousness he applied to fraternity life — preparation, commitment, and honour.
The passing of Femi Jarret on 3rd February 2026 leaves a silence that will be felt. Yet it also leaves a template: A model of how to belong, how to serve, and how to lead without theatrics.
On behalf of the Cosmos Virtual Island, we acknowledge his labour, we honour his memory, and we commit ourselves to preserving the ideals he helped entrench.
To his family, we extend our deepest sympathies and our enduring respect. You shared him with us; for that, we are grateful.
