Son of the late Igbo warlord and former leader of Biafra, Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, Mr Ojukwu Jnr on Wednesday 15th of November, switched allegiance from the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) party founded by his father, to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Awka, the Anambra State capital.
The younger Ojukwu declared this when President Muhammadu Buhari visited Anambra state to support the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Dr Tony Nwoye, for the Saturday’s governorship poll. Ojukwu jnr claimed his choice to defect was to ensure that Igbo land was moved into mainstream national politics.
He further berated APGA for always dragging his late father out at every election, when in the true sense of it, he was sure his father would have loved to play in mainstream politics if he were alive.
In a counter reaction to the recent political development, Chief Victor Oye, national chairman of APGA said Ojukwu’s defection had no force because he is not to be found in the Anambra state politics. He described Ojukwu Jnr. as a prodigal son.

It would be recalled to that history is repeating itself. CITYSPY gathered that; in 1983, Odumegwu Ojukwu returned from his 12 years exile on invitation from the then president and vice president Sheu Shagari and Alex Ekuweme. He was given a presidential pardoned and asked to defect from his party NPP to the ruling party NPN.
