The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has described Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke as a member of his political camp, while insisting that both of them belong to President Bola Tinubu’s political family.
Wike made the remarks on Friday, August 21, 2026, during an inspection of projects in Abuja, where he spoke about the evolving political calculations ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The FCT minister commended Adeleke for visiting both him and President Tinubu, saying the governor’s actions had demonstrated where his political loyalty currently lies.
Wike also dismissed claims by members of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) that their support contributed significantly to Adeleke’s victory in the recent Osun governorship election.
He argued that those claiming credit for Adeleke’s victory were attempting to benefit from political efforts they did not initiate.
“I told you that the 2027 election would be the most in-depth election,” Wike said, while commenting on the emerging political alliances ahead of the poll.
According to him, Adeleke’s visit to Tinubu and himself was an indication that the Osun governor was firmly backing the President.
“So, Adeleke is fully supporting Mr President,” Wike stated.
The former Rivers State governor further suggested that more political groups and individuals would soon align themselves with Tinubu ahead of the 2027 election.
He predicted the emergence of a broader coalition of political forces supporting the President, describing the development as a “larger rainbow coalition.”
“And so, we went to bed last night and encouraged ourselves to continue. And the next few weeks, watch what is going to happen. You will see a larger rainbow coalition in this country supporting Mr President,” Wike said.
Concluding his remarks, the FCT minister declared that Adeleke was part of their political camp and reiterated his loyalty to Tinubu.
“Adeleke belongs to us, and we all belong to Mr President,” Wike said.
His comments come amid increasing political realignments and coalition-building ahead of the 2027 presidential and national elections, with major political actors positioning themselves for the contest.
