Daughter of former President Olusegun Obasanjo and Ogun State governorship aspirant, Iyabo Obasanjo, visited President Bola Tinubu at his Lagos residence on Monday, where she discussed her political ambitions and plans for the state.
In a statement released on Tuesday, Obasanjo said the meeting was “insightful and forward-looking,” covering topics such as leadership, governance, and development both nationally and in Ogun State.
She shared her vision for the state, emphasizing priorities in governance, public service, education, healthcare, and youth employment. Reflecting on her long-standing relationship with President Tinubu, she described it as one built on years of political engagement and mutual respect, which has shaped her approach to leadership.
Obasanjo reaffirmed her loyalty to the ruling party and pledged to actively support President Tinubu ahead of the upcoming general election. On her governorship aspiration, she stated:
“I have been part of Ogun State’s political landscape for many years and understand the aspirations and challenges of our people. Leadership that comprehends the people’s needs is crucial. If given the opportunity to serve as governor, I will focus on strengthening education, improving healthcare, and creating jobs for our youths. My commitment is to ensure that every part of Ogun State experiences real development and an improved quality of life.”
