Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State has approved a minor cabinet reshuffle affecting three commissioners and announced the appointment of three officials to key government positions, as part of efforts to strengthen governance and improve service delivery.
The Secretary to the State Government, Malam Abubakar Mohammad Nakwada, announced the changes in a statement issued by the Senior Special Assistant on Media in the SSG’s office, Suleman Ahmad Tudu. Nakwada said the moves were designed to reposition key ministries for greater efficiency and effective implementation of the administration’s Rescue Agenda.
Under the reshuffle, the Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Hon. Abdulrahman Tumbido, was moved to the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources. The Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources, Hon. Kasimu Yahya Kaura, was redeployed to the Ministry of Youth and Sports Development. Hon. Tasiu Musa Shinkafi moved from Youth and Sports Development to Commerce and Industry.
The redeployments took immediate effect, with affected commissioners directed to complete handover processes within one week. Nakwada said the exercise was aimed at improving coordination across the affected ministries and ensuring better performance in line with the governor’s development priorities, adding that the administration remained committed to strengthening public institutions.
In a related development, Governor Lawal appointed Dr Muhammad Habibu Yelwa as Executive Secretary of the Zamfara State Substance Abuse and Control Agency, and Dr Usman Ismaila Gusau as Executive Secretary of the Zamfara State Livestock Agency. Alhaji Abdullahi Mohammed Nakwada was reappointed State Project Coordinator of the Zamfara State Agricultural and Community Development Project.
Nakwada said the appointments were part of ongoing reforms to improve service delivery in public health, agriculture, livestock development and community-based interventions. He urged the appointees to bring innovation, dedication and renewed commitment to their roles, in line with the Rescue Agenda.
The state government said the cabinet changes reflect the governor’s commitment to repositioning the administration for better results, and expects affected ministries and agencies to intensify efforts on programmes that benefit residents.
