Enugu State-owned Enugu Air has received regulatory approval to operate direct flights between Lagos and London Gatwick, with services due to begin in December 2026.
The airline said bookings for the route are already open, and passengers can reserve seats through its online booking portal.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the airline described the approval as a major step in its international expansion and in strengthening air links between Nigeria and the United Kingdom.
The route will be operated in partnership with Omni-Blu Aviation (OBA), which has been named the designated operator.
“Enugu Air has received approval for its Lagos–London Gatwick route, with Omni-Blu Aviation (OBA) appointed as the designated operator under a strategic partnership,” the statement said.
It added that the development would open new opportunities for passengers and trade, and credited the vision of Governor Peter Mbah, whose aviation agenda it said is positioning Enugu as an emerging gateway for international connectivity, investment, tourism and economic growth.
The approval comes about six weeks after the airline operated its first international flight, to Douala, Cameroon, on 23 September 2026.
Enugu Air was launched in July 2025 with three Embraer aircraft, the E170 and E190 series, as part of the Mbah administration’s plan for a modern, multimodal transport system. The initiative also aims to make Enugu a major aviation hub in West and Central Africa.
The airline has since expanded its fleet and route network.
