Suspected international fraudster, Osondu Victor Igwilo, popularly known as “Ezeego King of the Boys,” has been extradited from Nigeria to the United States to face charges connected to an alleged multi-million-dollar fraud scheme.
Igwilo first gained public attention in March 2022 after operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) arrested him during a raid in the Sangotedo area of Lagos State.
At the time, the anti-graft agency stated that the 52-year-old suspect had been on the watch list of the United States Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) since 2018. He was arrested alongside three other suspects identified as Okafor Nnamdi Chris, Nwodu Uchenna Emmanuel, and John Anazo Achukwu.
According to sources who spoke with SaharaReporters, Igwilo was extradited on Monday afternoon from the Kuje Custodial Centre in Abuja.
A source familiar with the development claimed that the extradition process was completed on Monday, leading to his transfer to the United States to answer allegations against him.
The source further alleged that Igwilo wielded significant influence while in custody at the correctional facility. According to the claims, he maintained close relationships with some prison officials and exerted considerable control over activities within the prison yard.
The source alleged that the correctional centre was plagued by corruption and illicit dealings, adding that Igwilo allegedly played a dominant role in decisions affecting inmates and some officers.
In another claim, the source alleged that an inmate identified as Shettima, who has since completed his prison term, collected more than ₦200 million from Igwilo after allegedly promising to stop the extradition process.
Neither the Nigerian Correctional Service nor other relevant authorities had publicly responded to the allegations at the time of filing this report.
