The Embassy of Ireland in Nigeria has announced that applications for the 2026 Ireland Fellows Programme will officially open on Monday, June 29, 2026, offering eligible Nigerians the opportunity to pursue fully funded Master’s degree programmes at top universities in Ireland.
The embassy made the announcement in a statement shared on its official X account on Friday, inviting early and mid-career professionals from Nigeria and Ghana to apply for the prestigious one-year postgraduate scholarship.
According to the embassy, the Ireland Fellows Programme is designed to support talented professionals who are committed to contributing to the development of their home countries after completing their studies.
“Applications for the Ireland Fellows Programme open on 29 June 2026. Apply for the opportunity to study in Ireland on a fully funded Master’s scholarship,” the embassy stated.
The scholarship covers a wide range of expenses, including full tuition fees, accommodation, a monthly living stipend, return travel costs, visa expenses, and comprehensive health insurance throughout the duration of the programme.
To be eligible, applicants must be citizens and residents of either Nigeria or Ghana. They must also possess at least a Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of Second Class Lower (2:2) and have no fewer than three years of relevant professional work experience.
For Nigerian applicants, the programme also includes the Roger Casement Fellowship in Human Rights, which provides funding for Master’s studies in disciplines such as Human Rights, Law, Governance, and related fields.
The embassy encouraged interested candidates to carefully review the eligibility criteria and application guidelines before submitting their applications through the official Ireland Fellows Programme portal.
Applications will open on June 29, 2026, and close on July 26, 2026. All applications must be submitted online before the deadline.
