The United Kingdom has released an updated list of countries whose nationals require a visa to enter or transit through the country.
The list, updated on July 10, 2026, covers nations across Africa, Asia, the Middle East, South America, Central America, the Caribbean and Europe.
Nigeria remains on the list, alongside other African countries including Cameroon, Ghana, Kenya, South Africa, Egypt, Ethiopia, Rwanda, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Uganda, Zimbabwe, and several others.
Other countries affected span Afghanistan, Albania, Algeria, Angola, Bangladesh, Belarus, Botswana, Burundi, China, Colombia, both Congo Republic and DR Congo, Cyprus (northern part), Dominica, El Salvador, Eritrea, Eswatini, Gambia, Georgia, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Honduras, India, Iran, Iraq, Ivory Coast, Jamaica, Jordan, Kosovo, Lebanon, Lesotho, Liberia, Libya, Malawi, Moldova, Mongolia, Myanmar, Namibia, Nauru, Nepal, Nicaragua, North Macedonia, Pakistan, Palestine, Russia, Serbia, Somalia, South Sudan, Sri Lanka, St Lucia, Sudan, Syria, Tanzania, Timor-Leste, Trinidad and Tobago, Turkey, Venezuela (non-biometric passport holders), Vanuatu, Vietnam, and Yemen.
The UK government advises nationals of these countries to obtain the appropriate visa before travel, whether for a visit, transit, or longer stay.
