FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has revealed that he instructed Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, to personally present his Certificate of Return to President Bola Tinubu.
Wike disclosed this on Wednesday during a media parley with selected journalists in Rivers State, saying he also directed Adeleke to issue a public statement thanking Tinubu following the Osun governorship election.
Adeleke had defeated the All Progressives Congress candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, polling 511,067 votes against Oyebamiji’s 444,815. After receiving his certificate from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Adeleke took it to Tinubu and publicly appreciated him for the outcome of the poll.
According to Wike, that gesture didn’t happen on its own.
“I told Adeleke to call Mr President and go and present his certificate of return to him. I also told him to make a press statement thanking Mr President after the Osun election,” Wike said.
The disclosure comes days after Adeleke insisted that his pledge to deliver Osun votes for Tinubu in the 2027 election was genuine, not political posturing. Speaking on Sunday while hosting APC National Secretary, Ajibola Basiru, Adeleke said his faith would not allow him to make promises he had no intention of keeping.
“I don’t make empty promises. When I said we will deliver Osun State votes to our dear father, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, I mean it 100 per cent,” he said, adding that politics should be built on integrity and cooperation across party lines.
