The Bamboo investment platform experienced login difficulties on Monday after a sharp increase in traffic from investors seeking to participate in the Dangote Refinery and Petrochemicals FZE public offer.
The disruption occurred shortly after the commencement of the public offer, as many Nigerians attempted to access the investment app to subscribe for shares in the Dangote Refinery.
Bamboo acknowledged the technical challenge in a statement posted on its official X account, attributing the problem to an unexpectedly high number of users trying to access the platform.
The company said, “Hey everyone, we’re getting a much higher-than-expected traffic trying to get into the Dangote IPO, and it’s making it difficult for some users to log into the Bamboo app.”
Bamboo added that its technical team was working to resolve the issue and restore normal access to the platform.
The company, however, did not provide a specific timeframe for when the login problems would be completely resolved.
The disruption highlights the strong interest generated by the Dangote Refinery public offer, which has drawn attention from retail investors seeking an opportunity to acquire shares in the company.
The public offer is part of efforts by Dangote Refinery to broaden ownership of the business and attract participation from Nigerian investors.
