Lagos, Kano and Kaduna have recorded the highest numbers of registered voters in Nigeria as the country moves toward the 2027 general election, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has said.
INEC Chairman, Joash Amupitan, announced this on Tuesday in Abuja, noting that the national voter register has now reached 110 million.
Amupitan explained that the figure combines all three phases of the commission’s voter registration exercise, adding that the size of the register makes Nigeria the largest democracy in Africa.
“The national register of voters now stands at 110 million, making Nigeria the largest democracy in Africa,” he said.
Lagos State tops the chart among the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory with 7,488,633 registered voters. Kano follows with 6,570,276, while Kaduna is third with 4,662,640.
