The Presidency has taken a swipe at the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate, Peter Obi, over reports that he is suffering from exhaustion.
The Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, reacted on Tuesday in a post on X, shortly after an NDC official played down concerns about Obi’s health.
The NDC’s Deputy Campaign Spokesperson, Dr Sam Omale, had told Channels Television that Obi, a former Labour Party presidential candidate, was in perfect health and only worn out by his heavy political schedule.
Omale explained that Obi’s constant travel between locations and habit of handling several tasks at once left him little time to rest. He insisted there was nothing medically wrong with the candidate, adding that members of his team were urging him to get some sleep.
Responding, Onanuga said the situation showed Obi was not immune to illness like everyone else.
“So, Saint Peter Obi is not a Superman after all. He can fall ill like all mortals. I wish him a quick recovery so he can rejoin what looks like another doomed presidential campaign,” he wrote.
