Access Holdings Plc has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening Africa’s financial sector and driving economic growth through improved capital mobilisation, regional integration and sustainable investment as financial leaders prepare to converge on Luanda, Angola, for the Africa Financial Summit (AFIS) 2026.
The Group will participate as a Diamond Sponsor alongside its flagship subsidiary, Access Bank Plc, at the summit scheduled for November 3 and 4, 2026. The event will bring together financial institutions, regulators, investors and other stakeholders to discuss strategies for mobilising capital for productive investments, expanding regional trade and improving access to finance for businesses and households across Africa.
Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede, Chairman of Access Holdings Plc, will lead the Group’s delegation. Other members include Roosevelt Ogbonna, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Access Bank Plc, and Seyi Kumapayi, Deputy Managing Director, African Subsidiaries, Access Bank Plc.
According to the Group, its participation will focus on how African financial institutions can translate their growing size, reach and capabilities into meaningful economic contributions. It noted that the continent needs stronger financial institutions capable of mobilising capital, supporting businesses and creating sustainable value for economies and communities.
Access Holdings explained that while Africa has significant economic opportunities, unlocking its potential requires financial institutions with the capacity, partnerships and expertise to channel funds towards productive sectors. The Group emphasised that expansion should go beyond increasing market presence to delivering measurable benefits for businesses, communities and shareholders.
Having established a significant pan-African presence through Access Bank, Access Holdings said it is increasingly focused on converting its scale into tangible economic value by connecting markets, supporting enterprises, facilitating regional commerce and expanding access to financial services.
The Group added that its Scale-to-Value strategy is designed to ensure that business expansion translates into stronger economic relevance, improved financial access and sustainable stakeholder benefits across the continent.
At AFIS 2026, Access Holdings is expected to contribute to discussions on domestic capital mobilisation, regional trade and payments integration, financial inclusion and the use of digital platforms to extend financial services to underserved businesses and households.
Commenting on the Bank’s participation, Roosevelt Ogbonna, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Access Bank Plc, said businesses require financing solutions that can move across borders to support their ambitions.
He stated that the summit would provide an opportunity for Access Bank to demonstrate how it is transforming its pan-African presence into meaningful value by connecting markets, supporting enterprises and widening access to financial services.
The Group maintained that Africa’s financial future would depend not only on the size and profitability of its financial institutions but also on their ability to direct capital towards the real economy, support business expansion and strengthen economic connections across African markets.
AFIS 2026, co-hosted by the International Finance Corporation and Jeune Afrique Media Group, is expected to attract more than 1,250 financial leaders and regulators from Africa and other parts of the world.
The summit, themed “Making Capital Count: Unlocking Growth Through African Finance,” will explore practical approaches to attracting private investment, directing financing towards productive economic activities, converting African savings into local investments and strengthening regional integration.
Through its participation, Access Holdings said it would continue to promote stronger collaboration among financial institutions, governments, regulators, investors and private-sector organisations, stressing that building Africa’s financial capacity requires collective efforts across national and sectoral boundaries.
The Group said updates on its participation at the summit would be made available through the official communication channels of Access Holdings and Access Bank using the hashtag #AFIS2026.
