The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has postponed its presidential and governorship screening exercise earlier slated for this weekend to Monday.
The party announced the development in a statement released on Saturday in Abuja by its National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi.
According to the statement, the screening of National Assembly aspirants will now take place in Abuja following security concerns in some parts of northern Nigeria.
The ADC assured affected aspirants that they would be contacted with updated schedules and further details regarding the new arrangements.
The party also apologised for any inconvenience caused by the postponement and thanked aspirants and stakeholders for their understanding.
Amaechi Enters ADC Presidential Contest
Meanwhile, former Rivers State Governor and ex-Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has officially declared his intention to contest the ADC presidential primary ahead of the next general election.
Amaechi revealed on Thursday that he had submitted his presidential nomination forms at the ADC secretariat.
He said his decision to join the race was motivated by his desire to restore hope to Nigerians and tackle the country’s economic and social problems.
Amaechi is expected to compete against former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and former presidential aspirant Hayetu-deen for the party’s presidential ticket.
