Governor Dauda Lawal has emerged as the consensus governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2027 Zamfara State election.
His adoption followed a consensus arrangement reached by stakeholders of the party, with members across various wards reportedly endorsing him as the APC flagbearer ahead of the forthcoming polls. The move was designed to prevent a divisive primary election and promote unity within the party.
The consensus process was widely embraced by party leaders and supporters, who described it as a step toward strengthening internal cohesion and improving the APC’s chances in the 2027 electoral contest.
Speaking after his emergence, Governor Lawal expressed appreciation to party members for their support and confidence in him, pledging renewed commitment to development across Zamfara State.
“I am deeply honored by the trust and support of our party faithful,” he said. “We will continue to work tirelessly to deliver development, improve security, and expand opportunities for all citizens of Zamfara State.”
The development reflects the APC’s broader strategy to present a united front and minimize internal disputes as preparations for the 2027 general elections intensify.
