Despite being faced with several issues in his current first tenure as Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, has accepted to seek a re-election for second term in office come 2019.
On the 9th of November, Ortom made the call while addressing All Progressives Congress (APC) supporters from the Benue South senatorial district and four local government areas of the Benue North who converged on Government House to endorse him for a second term bid.
The governor said he has received divine encouragement to run for a second term, adding that the same God who told him to contest for governorship in 2015 has told him to run for the same position in 2019.
He said he was overwhelmed by the various calls on him to contest for a second term and assured the people of the state that his administration would fish out ghost workers collecting salaries for work not done.

The governor thanked the people for identifying with him in the implementation of open grazing prohibition law and added that the law was not targeted at any particular group.
He said ranching was being adopted in the state in the interest of peace for farmers, livestock owners and the entire citizenry, and urged those sceptical of the law to give it a chance.
