Ghanaian singer and former Shatta Movement member, Captan, has alleged that Nigerian Afrobeats star Burna Boy was once arrested in Ghana over alleged marijuana use and later released following the intervention of Ghanaian musician, Shatta Wale.
Captan made the revelation during a recent podcast interview while discussing Burna Boy’s former relationship with Shatta Wale and members of the Shatta Movement camp.
According to Captan, Shatta Wale instructed him and some associates to help secure Burna Boy’s release after the Nigerian singer was allegedly detained by police authorities in Ghana.
He claimed he was personally involved in the process that led to Burna Boy regaining his freedom from police custody.
“I once bailed Burna Boy out of prison in Ghana when he was arrested for smoking weed. Shatta Wale sent me and some guys to go and free him from police custody,” Captan stated during the interview.
However, Captan did not reveal when the alleged incident occurred or where exactly in Ghana the arrest reportedly took place.
The singer also claimed that Burna Boy once received protection and support from Shatta Wale and his team during a difficult period when some individuals were allegedly after his life.
According to him, members of the Shatta Movement camp provided accommodation and helped the Nigerian artiste resolve the issue at the time.
“There was a time we also accommodated him when some people were after his life. We helped him settle the case,” he added.
Captan further disclosed that his relationship with Burna Boy became strained after tensions reportedly developed between Burna Boy and Shatta Wale.
The two African music stars were previously known to share a close relationship and often publicly praised and supported each other before their alleged fallout.
Although Captan did not explain the exact cause of the disagreement, he suggested that Burna Boy’s issues with Shatta Wale eventually affected his relationship with other members of the Shatta Movement camp.
Despite the reported misunderstanding, Captan maintained that there is still room for reconciliation between both parties.
He stated that neither he nor Shatta Wale holds permanent grudges against Burna Boy and hinted that peace could still be restored if the Nigerian singer decides to make the first move.
