A Nigerian woman based in Canada has stirred reactions online after requiring her husband to publicly pledge faithfulness before she would support his relocation to join her.
The woman, identified on Facebook as Ezinne Maryjane Nwanorue, explained in a series of posts why she insisted the declaration be made publicly on Facebook and WhatsApp before her husband could obtain a Canadian visa.
According to her posts, the condition required her husband to record a video accepting that he would die if he ever cheated on her after relocating, and to commit to remaining faithful and being a good father to their children. She described the demand as divinely instructed, stating it was the only path through which her husband could receive his visa.
In a follow-up post, she extended the declaration into a prayer, asking that her husband face fatal consequences should he engage in infidelity of any kind after joining her in Canada. She stressed that no explanation or plea would change the outcome should he break the vow.
Her husband, identified as Franklin Chimaobi Nwanorue, complied by recording a video message directed at his wife. In it, he pledged loyalty and committed to avoiding infidelity, framing the promise as necessary for restoring peace in their marriage after three years of separation. He also apologized for past hurt in the relationship, asked for forgiveness, and assured her that he had no plans to leave the marriage regardless of public commentary.
The video and accompanying posts have since gone viral, drawing widespread reactions from social media users over the nature of the condition and its public delivery.
