The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has declared Abdulrasheed Abdullahi Maina, former Chairman of the Pension Reform Task Team (PRTT), wanted over an alleged case of receiving stolen property.
A wanted notice issued by the anti-graft agency on Wednesday identified Maina as a 61-year-old indigene of Biu, Borno State.
The EFCC urged members of the public with credible information about his whereabouts to reach out to any of its offices nationwide or the nearest police station and other security agencies. The commission listed its offices in Ibadan, Uyo, Sokoto, Maiduguri, Benin, Makurdi, Kaduna, Ilorin, Enugu, Kano, Lagos, Gombe, Port Harcourt and Abuja as points of contact.
Maina is no stranger to EFCC prosecution. He previously faced trial over allegations linked to pension funds during his time as PRTT chairman.
In November 2021, the EFCC secured his conviction on a 12-count charge bordering on money laundering, operating fictitious bank accounts and fraud, in a case connected to about ₦2 billion. The court handed him a cumulative sentence of 61 years, to run concurrently, and ordered him to refund ₦1 billion to the Federal Government.
The commission has previously described Maina as a former PRTT chairman wanted in connection with pension fraud and money laundering allegations.
