The Federal High Court in Abuja has fixed December 2, 2026, to deliver judgment in the ₦1 billion fundamental rights suit filed by former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, against the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) and other respondents.
Justice Joyce Abdulmalik announced the date on Wednesday after counsel to all the parties adopted their respective court processes.
El-Rufai’s lawyer, Ubong Akpan, was not in court when the matter was called, and the judge deemed the processes filed by the former governor as adopted.
Akpan later arrived and apologised for his lateness. When he asked to be allowed to adopt his client’s documents, the court told him they had already been deemed adopted.
Counsel to the ICPC, Abdul Mohammed (SAN), adopted the commission’s processes and urged the court to dismiss the suit in its entirety.
The Inspector-General of Police was represented by ACP Ezekiel Rimamsomte, while the Attorney General of the Federation was represented by Maimuna Lami-Shiru, Director of Civil Litigation and Public Law. Both also adopted their processes and asked the court to dismiss the suit.
Justice Abdulmalik subsequently adjourned the matter until December 2 for judgment.
