Frank Mba, a retired Deputy Inspector-General of Police (DIG), has set up a law firm in Abuja, seven months after leaving the Nigeria Police Force.
The firm, FRANK MBA LEGAL, was unveiled on Friday, October 9, 2026, at its office in Wuse 2, Abuja. Mba retired in March 2026 after 34 years of service.
Serving and retired police officers, government officials and members of the National Assembly were among those at the event. Others present included Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, and former Inspectors-General of Police, Mohammed Dahiru Abubakar and Usman Alkali Baba.
Retired DIGs Sadiq Abubakar, Tijani Baba and Dan Kwara also attended, along with serving DIGs Ekene Onwuemeelie, Isiyaku Abubakar and Suleiman Mohammed.
Mba said he started the firm to keep contributing to society by bringing his policing experience, legal training and public service background to the legal profession.
“Retirement is not the end of service; it is an opportunity to serve in a different capacity,” he said.
He added that he would draw on his experience in leadership, conflict management and the administration of justice to protect rights and help resolve disputes.
During his police career, Mba served as Force Public Relations Officer on three occasions and as Police Public Relations Officer in Lagos State. He was also Commissioner of Police in Ogun State and part of the police management team overseeing the Department of Training and Development, where he worked on personnel development.
His legal background goes back years. Mba earned a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Lagos, attended the Nigerian Law School and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 2002. He later obtained a Master of Laws degree with distinction from the University of Dundee, Scotland.
He also served with the Nigerian Police contingent to the United Nations Mission in Liberia between 2006 and 2007 and received a United Nations Medal for his service.
