A Federal High Court in Abuja has handed down a 75-year prison sentence to former Minister of Power, Saleh Mamman, following his conviction on multiple fraud counts totalling ₦33.8 billion.
Justice James Omotosho delivered the ruling, sentencing Mamman on each count with all terms to run consecutively, bringing the cumulative sentence to 75 years. The sentence will take effect from the date of his arrest.
The court issued a sweeping arrest order, directing all Nigerian security agencies as well as Interpol to apprehend the convict wherever he may be found.
In addition to the custodial sentence, Justice Omotosho ordered the forfeiture of all recovered funds and properties to the federal government. Mamman was also directed to refund the outstanding balance of the ₦22 billion earmarked for the Mambilla and Zungeru hydroelectric power projects.
