
Long before his assassination on the 2nd of August 1997, Professor Moshood Abiola Peller held sway as one of the biggest entertainment personalities on the TV screen with a sold out magic and illusion show along side his beautiful wife Lady Peller. Any venue Peller is set to perform, trust to have audience filled to the brim. He has a mastery of holding his audience spellbound with various jaw dropping tricks.
The Iseyin statesman was remembered for playing a pivotal role in putting the small Iseyin town in modern day Oyo state on the world map. He was an icon that dominated Africa with his magical prowress. He is a generous philanthropist. His palatial mansion in Iseyin is a rendezvous point for the needy, who constantly troop in to tap in the milk of his kindness. He was said to have inculcated his philanthropic nature into his children, as he told them to see wealth as a privilege from Almighty God, which must be used to uplift humanity. During his years, he holds the record as the first man to have invited the then; Premier of the defunct Western Region, Chief Obafemi Awolowo, who graced the commissioning of his country home in Iseyin flying into the ancient town in a chopper.
Professor Peller, a devoted Muslim till death, was highly influential and well loved among his people. The Peller family, coordinated by Hon. Shina Peller, annually celebrate his remembrance every 2nd of August, with series of activities; a Peller Novelty Football Match and a musical concert to wrap it up. Due to the global pandemic, all celebration activities was placed on hold. The children and wife celebrated his remembrance in a small way, visiting his burial cenotaph with prayers from Muslim clergy. Professor Peller would be remembered as the man who pioneered magic in Nigeria and possibly by extension Africa.
