Orji Uzor Kalu understands politics like the back of his hand, thus rather than become a lackey to incumbent politicians and godfathers, he re-strategised by leaving the All Progress Grand Alliance (APGA), the platform in which he became two time Governor of Abia state at a very tender age and pitched tent with the All Progressive Congress (APC), because of his undaunted love for President Buhari. The Ex-Governor of Abia State, did what no one expected by bonding with the APC to give him a soft landing over his alleged case of money laundry, misuse of public funds and other count charge levelled against him by the EFCC during his tenure as Abia State Governor.
In the end, many political observers had thought pitching tent with Buhari and the APC will make him get back his groove. Many had thought he was going to be compensated with a board chairmanship appointment just like ex-Ekiti governor Otunba Niyi Adebayo who was recently appointed as Chairman of Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) by President Muhammadu Buhari. Its no news that President Buhari detests corruption so much, in that light, the Presidency was said to have omitted his name from the just announced appointment list because of his corruption case with the anti graft agency.
Since Orji’s exit from the Abia State government house, He has been battling political relevance, trying to save his dwindling political career fading off into oblivion, just like a man drowned in the high sea grasping for life.
A source divulged to CITYSPY that; ”He is planning a political cameo to contest for the Presidency in 2019, but added a clause that; If President Buhari seeks a re-election bid, He would have to drop his political ambition”. Some political pundits, well grounded in eastern politics, divulged that ”His Presidential ambition is like winking in the dark. It will never see the light of the day. If he contests for a councillorship seat in his ward or local government, he would fail. Not to talk of his presidential ambition bid. We easterners have lost trust in him”.
