Governor Nurudeen Jackson Ademola Adeleke is a man after God’s heart. This has been proved by the recent happenings surrounding his emergence as Governor of Osun State. His foray into politics is divine, especially after the shocking demise of his elder sibling, the first executive Governor of Osun State; late Senator Isiaka Adeleke known as ‘Serubawon’ in 2017. Since he was elected senator for Osun West replacing his elder sibling, he fit perfectly into that shoes and he became a man many loved for his ingenuity, originality and his ability to combine governance and entertainment. He is one of the politicians in Nigeria who broke the idea that those in public office must always take things hard. His style of Governance and politics resonated with the general populace who have now come to embrace him and love him more. His selling point was his track record. His magic is in his ability to entertain with his Michael Jackson-like dance steps. And he did dazzle the entire country with his energetic dance steps.
Barely two years into his first major political adventure, the then ‘dancing senator’ gave the governorship of his home state a shot. He lost at a rerun election to Governor Oyetola. Something was spectacular about Governor Adeleke, after losing the election and court battle to reclaim his mandate instead of giving up on his dreams to Govern his home state he decided to recoil back into his shell, restrategize, and relaunched himself after he had finished studying for a degree course at a reputable University in Atalanta, Georgia in the United States of America.
At the 2022 gubernatorial election in Osun state, Adeleke entered the ring with more firepower armed with more experience, knowledge and overpowered the then-incumbent Governor Gboyega Oyetola of the All Progressives Congress beating him at the election to be declared Governor of the State. A dream come through for Adeleke but it’s not yet Uhuru for him as Oyetola dragged him before the election petition tribunal where Oyetola was declared the Winner of the election. Adeleke through his lawyers filed an Appeal where the appeal upheld his election as he duly won it and most recently the Supreme Court affirmed his victory bringing his legal battle to a final halt. The victory is indeed a sweet one as Governor Adeleke is currently witnessing the proverbial 7th heaven typical of a woman who just delivered a new baby. His victor set the state in a state of uproar as victory songs rented the air most especially among civil servants who were chanting ‘Imole’ meaning Light has come to stay.
Sources say the victory will allow him to focus more on governance and also inaugurate his cabinet members. “The victory is also a good birthday gift for him as he is set to celebrate his 63rd birthday tomorrow as friends and family are planning to host a victory party for him”. Another close source says; his close friends, political associates, and civil servants are planning to surprise the Governor on his birthday which will also mark his 63rd birthday tomorrow. The best vendors have been put in place, invitations have been sent to those who matter most as they plan to celebrate the Dancing Governor to high heaven also celebrating his victory and the beginning of New things in Osun State.
