In a country where half of it’s population are social media conscious, either on Facebook, SnapChat, Twitter or Instagram. There are some set of creative individuals called the ‘social media creatives’, whose job is to dole out creative content to put smiles on the faces of their followers via their posts. In the much saturated creative industry in Nigeria, some still enjoy massive followers on their handles for their creative hilarious posts.
His handle on Instagram is widely known as @Demo_pumpin, but not too many of his followers know his real names. Christened Egbeleke Ademola Owolabi, an Instagram sensation and stand up comedian that needs no introduction to many social media users most especially on Instagram. Demola currently has over 64 Thousand active followers on his Instagram page. The graduate of Biochemistry, from the University of Ibadan, started his comedy and acting career as an undergraduate on campus.
CITYSPY caught up with the lanky event compere and stand up comedian after delivering a jaw dropping comedy performance at an event in Lagos. He was asked; Could you ever believe your comedy skits would be widely accepted the way it is?, He responded ‘Sincerely, It started off like a joke. I saw the prospect in it, so, I took it serious. I never thought it was going to be this massive, because it was more like having fun, the passion in me drove me to do more but I am happy that my skits are widely accepted by everyone’’.
CITYSPY further asked where he draws his inspiration from when writing his comedy scripts, He said ‘‘Daily activities around me, my environment and my friends gives me inspiration. I am a deep thinker, I think outside the box. So, it has really helped me. I am also planning to have my comedy skits on terrestrial T.V you all should stay tuned’’.
