The Mogaji of Akinsola Family Compound in Ibadan, Olawale Oladoja, has openly condemned former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose over his recent criticisms of Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, describing Fayose’s remarks as a display of “irredeemable delusional disposition.”
In a statement issued in Ibadan on Tuesday, Oladoja expressed disappointment that Fayose — who frequently boasts of being born in Ibadan and claims affection for the city — would turn around to attack one of its most celebrated sons.
“Fayose claims he was born in Ibadan and that he loves Ibadan, but, sadly, he appears to hate his place of birth so much that he is attacking the pride of Ibadan, which is transforming the city into a modern metropolis,” Oladoja said.
The Mogaji also issued a stern warning to the former governor over attempts to drag the Olubadan of Ibadanland into what he described as dirty politics.
“I want to caution Governor Fayose from dragging our highly revered Olubadan into his dirty politics. Kabiyesi is a father to all, and we will not allow anyone to disparage our royal father for political reasons,” he said.
Oladoja further noted that it was unacceptable for someone who had shown little regard for traditional institutions in his own state to seek to embroil Ibadan’s respected monarch in needless political controversy.
He called on political figures to conduct themselves with decorum and respect for royal institutions, assuring that the people of Ibadan would stand firm in defence of the dignity of the Olubadan stool.
