The founder of Salvation Ministries, Pastor David Ibiyeomie, has cautioned internet fraudsters against paying offerings in his church, insisting the ministry does not need money linked to fraud.
The clergyman gave the warning during a recent church service, where he criticised members who continued to engage in internet fraud, popularly known as “Yahoo Yahoo,” despite being regular churchgoers.
According to him, some fraudsters are active within church congregations and remain unbothered by their actions, even as they defraud unsuspecting victims.
“Do you know that there are Yahoo boys inside church? They have no conscience; they are yahooing somebody, and they are very happy in church,” he said.
Ibiyeomie described internet fraud as an act of theft, regardless of how it is justified. “Yahoo is stealing. Is it your money? I don’t care how you paint it, Yahoo is stealing,” he stated.
He went further to bar such persons from giving offerings in his church, telling them to take their money elsewhere. “In this church, if you’re a Yahoo, you will go to another church and give your offering. I don’t care how much you have,” he said.
The pastor also cited the case of a professor at Rivers State University who, according to him, was defrauded of his life savings, an experience that reportedly led to his collapse and death.
Ibiyeomie urged Nigerians to distance themselves from those involved in internet fraud, warning of the consequences tied to such association.
